Dena Saxer, M.A., has been practicing and teaching the Universal Tao system since 1983. In Toronto, she literally stumbled into her first UT class (she had previously sprained her toe) and has never looked back since. She then began to study with Universal Tao founder Mantak Chia and his Senior Instructors in New York City and Massachusetts. She founded the Toronto Universal Tao Centre and was certified by Chia to teach. Wearing her other hat, as a writer, Dena co-wrote two books with Chia, TAOIST WAYS TO TRANSFORM STRESS INTO VITALITY and CHI SELF-MASSAGE; the first one became one of his best selling books, and a favorite of many students and instructors. She is currently co-writing a new mainstream book with him, on emotional health.

In 1985, Dena moved to the Los Angeles area, where she is the only Certified Universal Tao Instructor in Southern California who teaches the "classic" UT curriculum on a regular basis. She has also taught in Mexico, Vancouver, Victoria, and San Diego. Students have come from Arizona, Nevada, and San Diego to study with her. In 1994, Mantak Chia honored Dena by appointing her a Senior Instructor.
Practicing the Universal Tao has been a catalyst for her writing. She is a produced playwright and a lyricist/librettist of musicals. She has written a film script and two children's books. Dena has two wonderful adult children and seven marvelous grandchildren.

PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE: I believe we are here on this beautiful earth to fulfill our chosen task in life, and to do this with joy, commitment and gratitude. Along the way, we need to learn our own personal lessons, in order to be happier and more loving to ourselves and all others. We should be able to leave this earth a little better than when we arrived. My chosen task is to communicate the truth of my heart, and help others to identify and communicate the truth of their hearts.
