TRANSFORM ANGER INTO KINDNESS

In the Taoist view of life, we humans are an integral part of nature, and our bodies are subject to the same cycles and relationships as everything else in her realm. Therefore the five elements: earth, metal, water, wood, and fire, all function within our bodies in relation to each other, and externally, in relation to the seasons.
The energy of the wood element is lodged in the liver and gall bladder. It is the element that is dominant in the Spring. This means that the liver is working overtime in the Spring. Some of the symptoms of liver stress could be: digestive upsets, red watery eyes, eye infections and excessive anger.
We can strengthen the liver and gall bladder, our eyes, and our emotional state by doing the Healing Sound for the liver in this manner:
First locate the liver under your right lung by pressing in under your right bottom rib. It's very large and marvelously complex; it processes and stores nutrients and detoxifies harmful substances.
Next, sit in a chair, with your back straight and shoulders released, your feet planted solidly on the floor. Inhale, gently and deeply, with your eyes open. Exhale evenly and slowly as you make the sound "SHHHHH" sub-vocally or barely audible to you.
When you've finished exhaling, close your eyes and breathe normally as you concentrate on your liver for at least as long as it took to exhale. You may be able to feel fresh energy coming into your liver; this might feel like a tingling sensation, a vibration, a feeling of coolness, or a sense of relaxation. Yawning, burping, or passing gas during or after this exercise is a sign that the hot or stressed energy is being released.
Do this sound 6 times, or more if you're very angry or having digestive or eye problems. Do it any time of the year, but especially in the spring. You'll transform your anger to kindness, the positive emotion of the liver.

An old Taoist saying states: "If you do the liver sound 36 times and you're still angry with someone, you have the right to slap them once."
